The winner of the Localism In Motion contest and the recipient of a FREE full year's subscription to Real Estate Shows is:
Jay McGillicuddy on Boothbay Harbor, Maine
CONGRATULATIONS, JAY (and MONIKA, since we think you probably helped!)
We selected Jay's show for these reasons:
Overall,
he told a compelling story that had us feeling: We want to call and
say, "tell me more; show me more; and please help me."
Our two runners up and recipients of 600 points on Active Rain are:
Sarah Cooper on Putnam Animal Relief Center
![]()
Sarah also told a compelling story that
not only made us want to help, but to also lobby Congress to enact a
law making animal abuse a capital crime. She also linked to a local
entity - another important way a Show can benefit a Localism post.
Giving the link to the Shelter to use on their own website extends her
reach even further, and it's just a nice thing to do. Congratulations
Sarah.
Lisa & Robert Hammerstein on The Pasack Valley
![]()
Lisa and Robert gave us an inviting perspective of life in several wonderful communities in New Jersey.
They unobtrusively demonstrated their professionalism and also had us
feeling that if we are at all interested in any of those communities,
Lisa and Robert are the first people we'll call. Congratulations Lisa
and Robert.

Perry Mullsteff put together a very well executed Christmas greeting that carried his very personal message. Regardless of your own personal beliefs, I think you will agree that this Show is exceptionally well done.
Perry used great images and just the right amount of evocative writing to create a professional looking presentation that conveyed his personal beliefs. There is no question this allowed him to communicate in a way that adds value to his existing relationships. It allowed him to connect on a personal level with family, friends and clients. That's what it's all about!

"I received a number of notes back from people who appreciated it," Perry said.
If you created your own personal Holiday Greeting, we'd love to have you share it here. Just click on comments and tell us your story!

Tim and Susan Fennell from Jacksonville, Florida, took our suggestion to send a Thanksgiving greeting and made it personal.
"We sent out the greeting and folks seemed to appreciate it," Tim said.
They were kind enough to share a few of the email responses they received:
"Thank you so much. That was very nice of you. I certainly hope you guys have a wonderful holiday as well. Thank You, Faheem"
"Thank you so much -- that was just lovely and very kind of you both to think of me. My best wishes to both of you for a happy and fun Thanksgiving Day! -- JoAnn"
Here's the one we think is the best response of all...
"Thank you for the lovely greeting! We wish you and your families a wonderful & safe Happy Thanksgiving as well! The couple across the street relocated, but haven't sold their house yet ---- I told them they should have gone with using you guys!!! C-ya. Deb"
Tim and Susan, thank you for creating a great greeting and for understanding that Real Estate is about Relationships.

Whenever we speak to groups of Realtors, we talk about the importance of using Real Estate Shows to stay in touch with friends and family. Here's why. First, it's just a nice thing to do. Second, it keeps you "top of mind." If you want referrals from friends and family, you need to be on their mind when the opportunity to refer arises. They will only refer you if they remember that you're a Realtor. A consistent stream of fun Real Estate Shows about family and events will help.
Real Estate is about Relationships. It always has been. It always will be. Phil Macaronis understands this. Phill told us, "Your medium is a great way to build stronger bonds with family, friends AND clients!"
While "practicing" to use Real Estate Shows for his listings, he made the following Show. His family loved it. He's since made several more Shows to highlight family events and sent them to friends and family via email. Each one has been met with the same response - they love it.
"I would like to Thank You for providing us with such a valuable tool to use in our business," Phill added. "Creating shows is extremely easy and provides me with a great tool to improve my Real Estate business and to create emotional bonds with family members and clients alike! I'm going to create a great deal more shows for my listings, family, clients AND prospective clients to show them how I can better market their home."
Phil continued, "Without Real Estate Shows my efforts might be absolutely ordinary. Now I have an edge! Thank You!"
Thank you for allowing us to showcase your family, Phil. And thank you for helping us spread the word about how important using Real Estate Shows to connect with family members can be.

"I am a new REALTOR," Tracy relates. "Matter of fact, this is my fifth month in the business. Coming from a hospitality background, I truly believe every home is a unique destination and that is the focus of my marketing. Whatever “IT" is!"
Tracy sent us one of her Shows to ask us our opinion of it. What struck us immediately about this Show was her writing. This is an empty home, so the photos are not going to do the trick alone. She tells a story and draws the viewer into the home, even without furniture... and ties in a holiday flare at the end.
"This new construction home is nestled in the picturesque foothills of the upstate of South Carolina. Located in an area that is upwardly mobile, this spacious 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home is the perfect place to build a new life and a family!" she wrote. "With 100% financing available, it’s just right for targeting first-time homeowners."
Tracy continued, "Personally, I love your marketing tool and labor over each and every house. This, along with your reporting capabilities, helps me deliver the results my clients are looking for! Thanks for continuing to add new functionality!"
Thank you for sending us the Show, Tracy.

"The entire concept of Real Estate Shows," he said, "is making an emotional connection. I wanted to create a Show that would allow me to connect with clients and express an understanding of the world of real estate beyond closing the deal."
So he set out to create a promotial Show that would illustrate that concept. We think he did that.

Chichi added, “sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of this business, it is can be easy to loose the focus of the big picture. I wanted to convey the message to my clients that no matter how many transactions I’m involved in, I’ll never forget the importance of each one.”
He likes it so much, he's adding it to his email signature. "I am intending to use this as an e-business card and also eventually incorporate it into my website as a “commercial”. Also, I have added the link to my email signature so that it gets sent to everyone I communicate with online."
Chichi, thank you for creating an excellent example of how to use Real Estate Shows to connect with potential clients and thank you for sharing your email signature idea!

Donna Robertson didn’t hold back when we asked her to talk about the
Show she created to highlight Lacey Township in New Jersey.
“The idea for the Show was born out of necessity,” Donna said. “So many people are starting their search for a home on the internet and have no clue about an area or what a town has to offer. They call and want to see homes all over the place. Today, there is not enough time. Real Estate Shows help in narrowing down the search. It has been my philosophy over the years to not only sell a client a home, but our town. So many potential clients don't have the time to even see homes, let alone take a tour of the area. I just listened to what a lot of clients were saying they were looking for. The Show acts as a reminder for them. It keeps them thinking about Lacey Township.”

“Creating the Show was the fun part,” she added. “I have read all of your tips and tried using them in each of my Shows, but it all came together in this Show. Your tools for creating this make it so easy. I tried experimenting with all your features and a whole world opened up - the left/right pan, camera movement, even the best placement of the titles. And this is from someone who has basic computer skills.”
Donna, this is just an excellent Show. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your enthusiasm.

We spend a lot of time on this Blog talking about Shows that go beyond
listings, but sometimes a Real Estate Show for a listing really turns
our head. Kathryn Tanner and her Office Manager, Lisa Mastronardi,
teamed to create a Show that fully utilizes the best features of Real
Estate Shows.
"This is a new listing in our office that we wanted to promote before the weekend," Lisa stated. "So I used our pictures to create a Show that the home owners would be happy with and that people could view and get a sense of this house and the property."
View This Excellent Listing Presentation
She added, "I really enjoyed using the new panning feature. The zooming in and out is very effective, but the pan allows you to 'switch it up' and make a Show more interesting. It also helps to show how a room flows from one end to the other, especially in a long room like an eat-in kitchen."
"Using Real Estate Shows has been such a positive experience for me and has helped to promote our listings in a very special way," she continued. "Clients and brokers have been thrilled with the positive response the Shows have brought to their listings. I hope to eventually have these Real Estate Shows attached to all of our listings and look forward to getting more creative with them in the future."
Lisa, if your creative efforts outside of listings match your creative efforts on listings, we will all look forward to it. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm.
